Doug founded the Retro-Politans with colleagues Cindy Hutchins and Alex Hassan circa 2007 for a one time performance and poof, a new group was born. The Retros are inspired by some of the great Boy/Girl Vaudeville acts of the 20s and 30s and with Alex Hassan at the keyboard playing spot-on recreations of the style; these are evenings you won’t soon forget. All of our shows are authentic, energetic, engaging, touching and a lot of fun.
At the moment our repertoire includes: Shakin’ the Blues Away, a revue of tunes from movies, broadway, radio and vaudeville; Over There, our revue of tunes created to bolster our country and honor our troops; Dawn of a New Day – Songs of the World’s Fairs, a fantastic collection of little-known songs by well known composers created for the World’s Fairs of the 1930s. This show includes a marvelous narration created by Mr. Dwight Blocker Bowers, curator at the American History Museum of the Smithsonian. More are in development…….OOOhhhhh, you’re gonna love it.
